Tips for moving house when pregnant

Moving house can be stressful enough, but when you’ve got a bun in the oven it becomes another matter entirely. But this is actually a surprisingly common scenario, as many house moves are actually spurred on by pregnancy. It can be frustrating to move house when you’re pregnant, but there are plenty of ways that you can avoid getting stressed out during the move, as we’ve outlined below:

Plan ahead

One of the most frustrating aspects of being pregnant during a house move is being unable to help with the majority of the work. Your friends and family are frantically packing their items away and deciding what order to pack them in, and all you can do is sit and watch. So to avoid this frustration, you can create a plan. Not only will this help you to get involved with the move, it will also help to make sure that the entire process goes smoothly.

 Stay positive

Moving house can be very stressful, and the last thing that a pregnant woman needs is more stress in her life. As hard as it might seem, staying positive is one of the best ways to ensure that you don’t totally lose your cool on moving day. Try to think about the reasons why you’re moving home, and how all of the hard work will be worth it once your baby arrives.

Become the boss

Just because you can’t help move the boxes, doesn’t mean you can’t tell everyone else what to do! Moving heavy items out of a house can be very difficult, so having someone there to make sure that no walls get scratched or items get dropped can be very useful. But shouting through a megaphone might be a step too far.

So there are a few ways that you can help take the stress out of a house move when you’re pregnant. When you’re pregnant, staying completely out of the way during a move can actually do more harm than good, as your mind will start running and you’ll get stressed over nothing. By getting involved, you can be assured that everything is going smoothly and help reduce your stress.
